Today, I slept in and hung around. I finally met Josianne and she is a native French speaker, so I got to practice my French with her! I honestly couldn’t understand her sometimes because she has a slight accent (from Morocco) and she also speaks very quickly. She is getting married next month and told me that her family will be here, so she didn’t want it to be a surprise. I’m very glad I knew in advance or else I definitely would have been confused. She also said she likes to cook a lot, and since then I’ve seen her in the kitchen making lots of food that smells great.

After taking some time to look for new housing and watching Selling the OC, I got ready to finally meet my Luxembourgish Fulbright contact, Felix. He also brought 3 friends along. One was his childhood friend, one was a friend from his law firm, and the third person was the law firm buddy’s girlfriend. It was actually Felix’s first time meeting the girlfriend as well! We went on a nice walk around Luxembourg City and saw many beautiful sights and famous landmarks I’ve been planning on going to. We also got to take one of the elevators down to the valley of the city as well as a diagonal tram back up to the financial district (Place d’Europe). I couldn’t believe how gorgeous every view was from around the city. I feel so lucky that I can walk the circumference in a short period of time and see so many beautiful things.

After we finished walking around, we grabbed drinks and some food at Popup. Funnily, the place has been there for over 2 years, so it isn’t actually a pop-up restaurant. I had a porn star martini, which was absolutely delicious! It is essentially a passionfruit martini with vanilla egg white cream on top and a shot of prosecco on the side. At this restaurant they advertised Veuve Cliquot everywhere, so I’m assuming that’s what I got. It was probably one of the best cocktails I have ever had!

I learned so much about Luxembourgish education from the three guys since they all grew up here. They all said that they hated having to learn so many languages in school, but as adults, they are extremely grateful for it.
