A Very Tiring Weekend

Woke up to get my laundry and it was still wet after FIVE HOURS of drying. Truly don’t understand how Europe is so advanced in so many ways except laundry ??? wasn’t even upset that someone took my clothing out until I felt how wet it was. because your clothes come out of the washing machine completely sopping wet, I’ve learned to wring it out further. I can’t imagine how much longer it would take if I didn’t do that. I put it in for 2 hours last night and was stunned at how wet it was, so I set it to three hours.

I made a whole Google Doc planning what I was going to do for European Heritage Days because there are so many things I want to go to. Heritage Days is essentially two weekends this month where places all throughout the country are hosting events to celebrate the country's history. I was going to go to a castle yesterday but was far too tired from my orientation in Brussels to wake up in time. Instead, I just went to my friend's exhibition about an hour away. I met some of her other friends and finally got to do "la bise," which is when you greet/bid farewell to people by kissing them on the cheek. In Luxembourg, you only have to do it twice, but other places can be three or even four times.

Today, I planned to go to the Grand Château d'Ansembourg. It is supposed to be gorgeous and I was very excited for the garden. It required taking 3 buses to get there because trains don't run on the weekends for some reason. The first bus was totally fine, but the second one ran late, which caused me to miss the connecting bus. The next bus wasn't for another two hours, so I checked another route and I had the option of taking a bus for 14 minutes and then walking the rest of the way for 26 minutes. I figured it was faster than waiting a whole two hours, but that bus never showed up at all.

After contemplating for a while, I decided I would return to Luxembourg City for the other event near the central train station because I didn't want to risk getting stranded so far away. When I finally got to the station, the bus I was originally going to get on at 15:11 disappeared and then a 15:24 bus showed up on the schedule. I walked around the train station and found a cool bike tunnel to look at. There was a lot of art all along it.

I got off at Gare Centrale and decided to walk to the Place d'Armes to see the beautiful buildings at a slower pace.

Once I arrived at the Place d'Armes, there really wasn't much there. There were some vendors selling trinkets, a balloon animal guy, and a Jamaican musician. I walked around some more and went to the square where the hôtel de Ville is and people-watched for a while. Then, I went to Monoprix and got some groceries. I'm very excited to have lasagna for dinner! I also went to check out the makeup section because I need new liquid eyeliner, but the prices were absolutely ridiculous. I'm not paying 15 euros for eyeliner, but I found a cheap nail file, so that was worth it I guess.

I was so excited to finally come home and my laundry was also finally dry, but it also smelled weird for some reason. I really have no clue what to do. I can't wait to live somewhere else because this place is really stressing me out. I found some gorgeous apartments, but they turned out to be 3,300+ euros! Here's to hoping I can move out ASAP.

I hope you find a luandry solution in the next few days, that just sounds awful. Those dummies over there have no idea what a drying machine is.
