Camden and I took a short trip to Wisconsin to visit our friend, Hannah, from college! Hannah and I were already good friends from the ultimate frisbee team, and then she was at TUJ with us. We all had a Japanese class together and then Hannah and Camden had the same day off, so they went on some fun trips together too.

Our drive was smooth and we went to pick up Hannah at her place in Madison. I had never been before, and it was nicer than I expected. I didn't really have any idea of what it would be like. The capital building definitely didn't give me Midwest plains vibes.

Our first stop was the Cave of the Mounds. Camden had been here with his brothers before. It was cool because it was self-guided with lots of employees at different areas in the cave to answer any questions or give more insight if you wanted to know more about that spot. All of the workers were so young though! Most of them couldn't have been above the age of 18. I even asked the beer vendor about how one of them was and he said he was 16! The cave was pretty cool and had a big room with lots of fun figures.

Our next stop was a tour at Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio. We just barely made it on time to our tour. Thankfully, everyone took a moment to apply sunscreen and bug spray since we were going to be standing outside for bits of time. I only knew of Frank Lloyd Wright's exterior trademarks. At this home, we saw a lot of his interior design and furniture too. It's so cool to think that he had students in his own home.

After the tour, we took Hannah back home and then set off to Chicago again. We had to make a stop at the Marz Cheese castle, where you can sit in a large throne with a huge cheese slice hat. This place looked like a German beer hall with long tables underneath iron chandeliers. We got some cheese and Spotted Cow beer and headed home. We

About 15 minutes after we left, the sun was starting to set. That was when I realized I had no clue where my sunglasses were!! I quickly realized I took them off so I could fit the cheese hat on my head at Marz Castle, and immediately called them. After we got them, we headed back to this cool restaurant we saw called Boat Fish Pub and Brewery. Better yet—that night was Jukebox Bingo!! There were different categories for each round, like pop punk (from artists like: blink-182, fall out boy, panic at the disco, etc.) and apparel-related songs (raspberry beret, these boots were made for walkin’). Plus, in order to get bingo, you had to get a different pattern every time. One round, it was a T shape, and another, it was a “6-pack,” aka a 2x3 rectangle.

The whole day was so much fun, and I'm glad we got to spend time with our friend. This is our last road trip before I'm off to Luxembourg. It's pretty crazy that the next time I see Hannah will be a year from now. I'm sure we'll be back before we know it.
